110,000 signatures and going!
15 Jul 2014 — Dear Supporters,
Thanks to all of you for signing and sharing the petition, we have now reached over 110,000 signatures and keep getting more every day! I am truly amazed by everyone’s support!
I had contacted Keith Williams and British Airways via E-Mail on the 18th of June asking for a meeting to discuss issues with orca captivity since they denied all responsibility. It’s been a month of silence on BA’s behalf since I haven’t had a single reply from them nor any acknowledgement of my request to meet and talk.
Meanwhile, SeaWorld ‘Lights Up The Night’ at their Shamu Stadium with a new show including fireworks right above the stadium which can be heard around 20 miles away thus putting their orcas at unnecessary risk of inflicting hearing loss and increasing their already high stress levels. A recent report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on Southern Resident Killer Whales (SRKW) states that the SRKW travel more and forage less when boats are nearby (page 14 at nwfsc.noaa.gov). Imagine what their captive cousins go through being unable to escape this immense noise pollution.
Please keep sharing the petition to increase the pressure on SeaWorld and BA to do something about this inhumane treatment of marine wildlife! Thank you!
