Zoochosis is the term used to describe the stereotypical behaviour of animals in captivity. Stereotypic behaviour is defined as a repetitive, invariant behaviour pattern with no obvious goal or function.
Symptoms include:
Pacing
Circling
Swaying
Self-injury caused by desperation, stress, loneliness and insanity.
Zoos and circuses are built for profit, not animal welfare. Please, never go to a circus or a zoo.
It saddens me to see this. If animals must be confined due to poaching or otherwise extinction, I’d rather see them in sanctuaries.
