Save the SEA LIFE London Aquarium penguins
Petition by

London, United Kingdom
“The Gentoo penguins at the Sea Life London Aquarium are kept in a small underground room, with no natural light and completely unacceptable quality of life.
I started this petition after I visited the Sea Life London Aquarium and saw the conditions that their Gentoo penguins are kept in. Kept underground, with a tiny area to live and swim and no natural light, they’re clearly very unhappy and need to be moved.
If we’re going to insist on keeping animals in captivity for our profit and entertainment, we should make sure that the best possible care and environments are available to them, and I don’t believe the London Aquarium is providing anything even close to that.
We pride ourselves on our animal welfare laws and like to think of ourselves as an animal-loving nation, and yet these penguins are being kept in cruel conditions right underneath our feet in central London.
The success of Monty the Penguin in the recent John Lewis Christmas advert demonstrates how much we love these birds – now it’s time to act. If Sea Life London Aquarium can’t provide the proper care, the penguins need to go to facility that can.
Sea Life and Merlin Entertainment are committing an act of cruelty by keeping penguins in this condition, and this needs to change.”
You can watch a video about these penguins here.
Poor little things. They deserve better.

We must never stop putting pressure on these aquariums. No animal should be confined in these conditions 😦
