Extraordinary depth and vulnerability in this poem.

Those words came into my mind when something occurred that rekindled suppressed feelings I thought would not be triggered again.

A few days ago a close friend died, although I am sad just now, the sadness will diminish with the grieving process. The first example is a situation that is entirely different.

I’m blown away by your poem, very few poets can write with the amount of wisdom and depth your poem expresses.
It’s therapeutic too, because you express the feeling of emotional pain in so few words without excessive verbiage that many often use to talk about emotional pain in poems.
So your poem goes strait to the issue in a tactile way, brilliant job! Well penned, indeed.

I never thought of it as being poetic, just a statement.
Thank you very much for you kind comments Genie.

Sometimes, the difference between a poem and a statement, can be as simple as the arrangement of the wording (but I think in this instance, it’s a poem either way).

            If hurt was water,
            I would have drowned
            A long time ago.
