TEEN GANG RAPE CASE
A British teenager was found guilty of lying to the police after she alleged she was gang raped by 12 Israeli youths in Cyprus.
In court, the woman insisted that she was raped, but had been pressured into changing her account by Cypriot police. She was initially denied legal representation.
“One moment I was a victim, the next I was the accused. Eight hours of interrogation, denied access to a lawyer — while those accused of raping me had legal representation immediately.”
Marios Matsakis, a forensic pathologist, said the woman’s injuries were consistent with rape. The judge refused to allow any evidence about whether the woman was raped, her lawyers said.
She spent more than a month in prison before being granted bail. Her passport has been held to prevent her leaving the country.
She is due to be sentenced on 7 January 2020. The charge of public mischief carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a £1,500 fine.
A UK Foreign Office spokesman said:
“The UK is seriously concerned about the fair trial guarantees in this deeply distressing case and we will be raising the issue with the Cypriot authorities.”

This is horrific. And tied to patriarchy. Rape is overpowering and invading. Now blame the victim or ignore her and make her feel more powerless.
