We were going to a New Year’s Eve party which we decided to get “dressed up” for. I was in the lounge waiting for her to finish getting ready. She walked in and said “how do I look?” For a few seconds I could not speak, I just stood and gazed. She looked incredible. I thought how lucky I am to have this beautiful, kind, intelligent and loving woman in my life.
The song “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton went through my mind. I told her how fantastic she looked and she said that I was looking “not too bad either.” We kissed gently, but it accelerated quickly to a level of uncontrollable passion. We were caught up in the rapture of the moment, stripping the clothes off each other, just like in the movies, only much better.
We loved with a love that was more than love.
Lying in the afterglow holding each other, we laughed about how long it took us to get ready to go out, and we never even reached the front door. We decided not to bother getting dressed. Life was more than wonderful; it was pure bliss.
