DEMAND THE EUROPEAN UNION TAKES A STAND AGAINST SLAVERY IN MAURITANIA

Biram-Dah-Abeid

11 November marked the one-year anniversary of the imprisonment of Mauritania’s leading anti-slavery activist, Biram Dah Abeid. He was imprisoned for standing up against slavery in Mauritania, the country with the highest prevalence of slavery in the world.

Through its agreements with Mauritania, the European Union has significant influence over the Mauritanian government. And it’s up to us as European Citizens to urge them to use this influence to release Biram and call on Mauritania to enforce its anti-slavery laws.
