We all know big business just wants to make the world a better place, right? Obviously, profits are a secondary concern. So with businesses like Coca-Cola getting involved in farming in Africa, there’s no need to worry at all.

 

 

That’s what International Development Secretary Justine Greening would like us to believe. She is working with Coca-Cola and other big corporations to stitch up the agricultural market in Africa in the interests of big business.
And if we let them do that, small-scale farmers in Africa – the very people who produce a whopping 70% of the continent’s food – are at risk of losing their land and livelihoods.

Coca-Cola and other companies want to take over African land and livelihoods. They want the profits from farming for themselves and other big businesses. And worst of all, they’ve got the ear of governments, while the views of small-scale farmers are ignored.

We need to tell Justine Greening to stop listening to Coca-Cola and start listening to African farmers instead.
