This morning I heard gunshots in the distance. The “hunters” were shooting defenceless pheasants.
These sentient creatures are bred and reared for the purpose of being killed, for pleasure, by people who seem to regard themselves as sportsmen.
I regard them with contempt.

I agree – why would you kill any living thing for sport – and this is such a beautiful bird.

I just edited the wording slightly, because I have nothing but contempt for people of that nature.
