This image shows the gestational sac of a nine-week pregnancy. This is everything that would be removed during an abortion and includes the nascent embryo, which is not easily discernible to the naked eye.

Showing this tissue can be a relief to patients. “Often people don’t speak to anyone about getting an abortion. They make a very quiet, private decision because they’re afraid to see people’s reactions. And then I do this simple procedure that’s a few minutes longer than a Pap test.

For those who choose to look at the tissue, you can literally feel the tension come down. People have been on this emotional roller coaster. And they’re like, ‘You’re kidding. This is all that was?’” says Fleischman.

  1. That’s amazing! I am for choice but it makes me feel bad, despite there being just what is shown in your picture, that there is a human being there. I can’t ignore my feelings and am just glad I never got pregnant and had to make that decision.

It is a difficult choice for many women. They may regret their actions whatever choice they make. Ultimately, it should be their choice though.

I think it is despicable when a woman has to give birth, when it is against medical advice, but the law says she has to.

      1. Well, the United States are now mostly like that. They overturned a ruling that had been in place for years. Trump did it.

I have read about some harrowing cases in the US, regarding doctors having to deny patients the care that is in the best interests of pregnant women.
Any time I hear the name Trump, it conjures up nothing but negativity.

          1. There has never been someone I detested more. I am working on trying not to hate him because that is bad for me but he is just SO horrid and disgusting.

Trump and former UK Prime Minster, Boris Johnson, are two peas from the same pod. Despicable narcissists who deserve nothing but contempt.

In England a 44-year-old mother of three, has been jailed for more than 2 years for procuring drugs to induce an abortion.
She received the medication under the “pills by post” scheme, which was introduced during the Covid pandemic for unwanted pregnancies of up to 10 weeks.
She lied to the British Pregnancy Advisory Service about how far along her pregnancy was to obtain the pills. She was actually about 28 weeks pregnant.
She was initially charged with child destruction and pleaded not guilty. If she had pleaded guilty at this stage, she would not have received a custodial sentence.
Abortion laws in England are not based on healthcare considerations, but first and foremost criminal sanctions.
Google searches she made were revealed in court, “I need to have an abortion but I’m past 24 weeks” and “Could I go to jail for aborting my baby at 30 weeks.”

The UK Investigatory Powers Act – also known as the Snoopers’ Charter – allows State authorities to collect information about everything we do and say online and order private companies to store it.
The Act grants them wide-ranging powers to scoop up and store all of our emails, texts, calls, location data and internet history. They can also hack into our phones and computers and create large ‘personal datasets on us – all without needing to suspect us of any criminal wrongdoing.

Abortion is a very debatable subject, I couldn’t tell if you were for or against it from this post. There’s an Arabic proverb that says something similar to “when the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t hurt” . I guess this is similar to your message here.

What may have influenced you was my reference to the woman who was jailed recently. I think she was wrong in her continual deception to the healthcare people and continuing to lie in court. It was her reluctance to tell the truth, that resulted in her jail term, thus depriving her children of their mother. I don’t know the reasons behind her foolishness, and it is not my place to judge.

Even when people do not have much, the one thing they own is their body. My body belongs to me and I decide what happens to it. Similarly, I believe that every woman should have autonomy over their body and reproductive rights.

Abortion is not an easy choice to make, but that choice should be made by the woman with the guidance of healthcare people, not politicians, or because of someone else’s religion.

I somehow missed this comment, but it’s clear now. I second the woman in the videos; it’s very true, and she said it perfectly.
